Principal Engineer - Core Integration, Defence

London

Join our defence and national security business and you’ll be helping users plan and train to meet the most complex security threats in the world. Working alongside experts in AI and Machine Learning, computational modelling and distributed systems, you’ll be putting multiplayer technology to life-saving use.
The Core Integration team works to reduce friction between SKYRAL’s components.  It does first pass integration to provide a framework for future projects, as well as extending the functionality that can be provided. The immediate work is in the Unreal Engine and VBS (Virtual Battlefield Solutions) space, but future work will see an ever-widening range of components that can be utilised.
We do this with a range of solutions - modifying existing code, building plug-ins, or standalone tools. We pay attention to how our customers are utilisingthese components to learn from this and evolve our capabilities. We very much value the success of our customers, and your mission is dedicated towards making them thrive!.

Areas for Impact

  • You will shape the technical vision: work with our technical leadership team to shape the technical vision and architecture of the product, making sure they align to the product vision and the overall business goals.
  • You will establish technical requirements from creative or design-led pitches
  • You will help us build, mentor and support our engineers in this brand new team (as well as adjacent teams)
  • You will collaborate with internal and partner teams to develop integration and tooling for Skyral components.
  • You will be responsible for researching potential solutions to technical challenges
  • You will utilise your strong communication and customer focussed skills to recommend best practices for solving external and internal integration problems.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining high quality deliverables that are suitable for customer use.

We'd like to hear from you if you identify with the following:

  • You’ll have a strong hands on understanding of C++
  • You have a track record of mentoring and supporting more junior engineers
  • Previous experience integrated complex platforms is definite advantage
  • You keep up to date with the latest standards in your languages of choice.
  • Technical Guidance: we expect you to work with teams and individuals during the full development lifecycle to make sure they deliver valuable software for the business. This can be achieved in multiple ways: mentoring, code review, pair-programming, design sessions etc.
  • Experience with one of VBS, Unreal, or Unity is highly desirable
While we think the above experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply.
