Resource Manager, M2

London

Job Vacancy Background
Work on ground-breaking multiplayer titles, push the boundaries of games technology and virtual worlds, or get to grips with some of the world’s toughest security challenges. If your ambitions are high, we’ll give you the tools, support and culture to take them even higher.
At Improbable, we’re bringing together technology and games to create new opportunities and experiences. In order to achieve this, we need unique perspectives from diverse people, empowered to revolutionise how online games are made, delivered and paid for.
We believe one of the biggest, most impactful changes to the way we live our lives is going to come from the medium of games. Realising new communities, societies and vocations through virtual worlds is what drives our people and gives them purpose.
Improbable is building M2 (MSquared), a network of interoperable metaverses.
This is a new venture incepted by Improbable; this role will initially span both M2 (customer) and the parts of Improbable working as a service provider to M2 (the Metaverse Group) and other 3rd parties.
The Operations team is here to make the business run effectively. Our focus is to drive operational excellence while helping to deliver against business goals. We do this by following the processes, reviewing outcomes, and lessons learned, and optimising our approach as we go. We work across the business, so you’ll get to work with people across our engineering, project delivery, and ops teams.
Your Mission
As Resource Manager, you will act as the lead for Resource Management for the overall M2 endeavour. In this role you will help project managers with planning and allocating resources for projects; determine the M2 organisation’s demand for resources, ensure its capacity meets staffing needs and you will contribute to the hiring process.
You will report to the Sr Technical Program Manager for M2 and will be working closely with the M2 leadership team / GM (dependent on structure) to ensure they have the right tools and resources for the projects and the organisation to achieve its goals. You will own the capacity plan for M2, assigning the right resources to the right projects at the right time to ensure successful delivery of projects.
As Resource Manager you will be responsible that internal and external resources are used effectively on time and to budget, providing key data on utilisation and visibility on future needs to the M2 leadership and service providers.
While we think the below experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply.

  • Contribute to our business review cadence by providing key data and KPIs for resources utilisation and forecast.
  • Review and implement resource management policies and practices across the business unit, suggesting news tools, processes or documentation and finding ways to improve our ways of working.
  • Work across other business units in the company to align resource management standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with the People team regarding staff training and hiring new staff for projects.

We'd like to hear from you if you identify with the following:

  • Experience in one or more of: a Games Development Studio/Outsourcer; Software Development (SaaS/PaaS preferred) organisation; a service organisation with external/internal clients; or, a rapidly scaling start-up.

  • Excellent communicator and influencer, with experience building alignment and resolving resource conflicts in a large business unit (200+ people).
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast paced and changing business environment.

While we think the above experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply.
