Software Engineer - Simulation Configuration, Defence

London

Join our defence and national security business and you’ll be helping users plan and train to meet the most complex security threats in the world. Working alongside experts in AI and Machine Learning, computational modelling and distributed systems, you’ll be putting multiplayer technology to life-saving use.
We are building a multidisciplinary team that will work on enabling other engineers and scientists to use the Core runtime platform,  to build large-scale simulations using an intuitive set of APIs and tools.
We will be creating APIs and tools ( CLIs, UIs ), that will act as the main interface for our platform, enable a smooth Software Development Lifecycle, abstract away the complexities of Project Development and use of our Core Runtime, and simplify the orchestration of the underlying infrastructure ( AWS, Azure, Google Cloud )

Area of impact

  • Build a next generation product which will help government defence institutions gain a richer understanding of their most critical problems through the power of synthetic environments.
  • Enable our users to create and run some of the largest and most complex simulations ever developed.
  • Understand the requirements of our applied scientists and model engineers and provide them with the APIs and tools needed to effectively develop, debug and profile complex models.
  • Bring empathy for our users ( engineers and scientists ) and design systems and services to enable them develop simulations against our core platform.
  • Build APIs that will will serve as the main entry point for engineers and scientists that want to use the runtime environment

We would like to hear from you if you identify with the following

  • You have a strong background using Golang, or have experience using other languages for creating backend services and APIs, but willing to learn and upskill in Go
  • You are a confident developer with experience in creating clean APIs and tools that will be used by other engineers and scientists
  • You are passionate about sharing knowledge, learning and collaborating with others.
  • You are pragmatic and able to identify the most impactful work among competing requirements.
  • You drive integration efforts across teams and the tech stack.
  • Knowledge of concurrent programming, networking and distributed systems is preferable.
  • Experience working with Docker, Linux and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of Golang and Terraform is a benefit but not essential.
While we think the above experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply.
Due to the nature of this role, you will be expected to meet requirements associated with obtaining UK security vetting clearance; including an unbroken residency in the UK for the previous 5 years. If you think that this might be an issue for you, please let us know
